About Waptel Travel & Tours
A community-led tour operator sharing the spirit of Papua New Guinea through journeys that connect people, culture and place.
Waptel Travel & Tours was founded in 2017 and relaunched in 2023 to bring travellers to the Tsak Valley in Enga Province. Our home base is the Poketamanda Eco-Tourism Project, where the community has built lodges, a house of traditional knowledge and guided routes through the surrounding mountains and forest.
Every tour is designed to uplift communities and create meaningful experiences for travellers. Visitor income supports cultural preservation, education and sustainable livelihoods in the valley.
